In the outside arena we have one raven-haired ex-Peacekeeper. It looks like she's scratching something into the snow with a stick. Could be she's trying to figure out what you get a not!boyfriend for Christmas.

In the inside arena, at a booth, there's one Miss Thea Harman. She's swirling a glass full of red wine and looking generally malevolent.

"Belle, I think," he says, looking thoughtful. "A pretty name for a pretty lady."

"And in the story Belle protects the Beast." Her laugh was like broken glass. "It is accurate."

"Do you expect to have to do some protecting, then?"

She laughed again. Giving someone completely the wrong impression was fun.

"Or perhaps I'm really the beast in disguise?" Her eyes flashed, wickedly, before sparkling as usual.

Oh, but who said he has the wrong impression, pretty Belle?

"Most of us are," he says easily, still grinning up at her from his reclining position on the couch.

"You don't even disguise it." She slid into a nearby seat, swinging her legs over one arm of the chair.

"I don't see the point in disguising it. Should I?"

He sits up a little, still lounging.

"No. I find it absolutely charming." Thea leaned her head on her hand and batted her eyelashes dramatically.

"Charming? I can't have that." He sighs dramatically. "I suppose I'll have to change my charming ways."

"I could turn you into a frog?" The girl suggested, the barest hint of a smile.

He raises an eyebrow.

"I doubt that, pretty lady. Besides, I'd make a horrible frog."

"You might get lucky and manage to get a kiss from a Princess." Thea smoothed her hair back, apparently fascinated by the ceiling fans.

He leans back, propping his feet up on the back of the couch.

"Every little girl's a princess."

Yes, he's read the book.

"And every woman is a demon." She replied, finishing an age old proverb he may not have heard.

He grins.

"But what does that make men?"

She inclined her head, thinking on it for several minutes before answering.

"Dinner."

He snorts.

"I think I'd be too big a mouthful for you, darling."

"I have no interest in the shell. It's whats inside that interests me."

Souls are sweet like candy, didn't ya know?

He's no longer smiling quite so brightly.

"I'll just bet you are."

"And you? Preferred food source?" The thing in Thea's body grinned, careful to sound nonchalant. No sense in getting in over one's head.

"I switch and change as the mood takes me."

Still smiling, still watching.

There's something not quite right.

"Something wrong?" Her fingers twitched, almost unnoticable.

"Why would anything be wrong?"

He fishes some berries from his Bag and munches them, one by one.

Suspicion crept like a thief up her neck.

"Are you a spy?" Her eyes were fixed on him now. Was it time to return? To let the girl out? She was weak, she could not take a threat now.

"Depends on who you think I'm spying for, pretty Belle."
