Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to not be able to have caffeinated coffee, not be able to phase, and to have your center of balance thrown to hell, all at once, throwing in the fact that for some reason you're getting morning sickness in the last month or so of pregnancy instead of the first?

Take a look at Kate's face.

It'll give you an idea.

Despite that fact, she really is very friendly, and she's rather desperate to interact with people not on the lil' island called Utopia that the mutants have relocated to.

(She misses New York. It should be cold, and it's most definitely not.)

All in all, it culminates in her swearing rather creatively at the computer she's working at.

(Hey, better it than something that has intelligence, and this one, we promise, doesn't even have the artificial kind.)

It's been a while since these two were in the bar. Longer in Milliways than for them -- that's always the way of it, it seems, with their world -- but maybe a month, even back in their San Francisco. There are always things to do, it seems, and life's never as boring as you want it to be.

But Kate and Piotr are sitting comfortably on the couch. Piotr, as usual, looks oversized compared to both the furniture and his girlfriend, but he's relaxed anyway, with his arm around Kate; she's leaning into his shoulder, nibbling absently on a nail.

Piotr, after a few moments of this, touches her hand lightly with his free one. Kate looks briefly startled, and then sheepish, as she pulls her hand away from her mouth. (Her nails are looking pretty ragged by this point in the day.)

[OOM: Just before, Kate unveils a project.]

When the door opens, it reveals two figures who might or might not be familiar. It's been a good few months on their side of the door since they were here last, but it's been a whole lot longer in Milliways.

Piotr -- tall, black-haired, built like a very polite tank -- is carrying Kate. It's not because she's injured or sick, though the fact that she's very clearly several months pregnant is probably a factor; mostly it's because if you can carry around your girlfriend easily, hey, why not? (Kate, for her part, is affectionately tolerant of this.)

Neither of them looks surprised to be here, but both look entirely pleased.

[OOC: Slowtimes welcome, so feel free to tag whenever! And if you'd rather only get one or the other character, just say so and we'll assume the other's off at the bar or in the bathroom or something.]

[OOM: Piotr Rasputin is a JERK! (...at age 19, anyway.)

Look, if you thought their love story was one that took a nice, even path, you clearly never read the comics.

And when you're 14, sometimes you can't deal with saving the world and having to see the jerk guy who dumped you every day.

So you go home to your parents' and plan to spend time with your dad. Nothing bad can come from that, right?

...Right?]

She (this she, though it may worth being pointed out in the narration that only one timeline is involved at all, from which only one Ms Pryde visits, whatever age that may be and whatever conclusions you may draw from that) hasn't been here for a while.

She though Illyana had managed to fix the portal to here. That's what they decided it was, after all.

Except their closet is leading to a bar. Again.

Which one has to admit, sure as hell beats, well, hell (or a hell dimension), but she's also relatively certain Xavier--and Storm--and Scott--would all be pissed to find out.

Though Wolverine would probably like it.

As it is, she settles with quietly getting a strawberry milkshake from the Bar an people-watching for the moment, wondering if it's her friend's powers or something else equally weird--no offense, Yana, all mutant powers are weird--that keeps bringing her here.

Though it's a really good milkshake.

[OOM: A...not that long time ago, relatively speaking, in a boarding school near Westchester, NY...]

So, see, here's the thing: when you travel via a trip to a demonic hell dimension, fondly known as Limbo, you sooometimes have a little bit of problems with things like "time" and "space" when you exit said demonic hell dimension. (There may be non-demonic ones. After you see enough, you learn to not count anything out.)

Even if one is travelling with one's best friend, who happens to be the current Sorceress Supreme and ruler of said hell dimension.

Possibly especially when you're both 14.

"--Excuse me, Miss, 'I let my critters do the dishes for me, even if they set the table with everything covered in pentagrams'? You do not get to tell me that I don't have a sense of style," Kitty Pryde says haughtily, and then blinks once.

And twice.

"...Dammit, Yana! You don't get to drive any more, either, and you can explain to Stevie why we're God knows where instead of ballet practice. ...And to Xavier."

Despite that, the girl is looking about with true curiosity in between glaring at her blonde companion.

...Admittedly, most of the attention is on curiosity, if not that much surprise. You share a house with a woman who throws lightning bolts when pissed and a guy with claws in his hands, you learn to roll with the punches.

The voyage to deep space was nearly over. The Enterprise was once again in the heart of Federation territory, a week from Sector 001. From Earth.

And not a moment too soon for a crew that was tired of malfunctions and a senior staff that was hoping for a better, more rewarding assignment that involved less diplomacy and more exploration. Jim had finished filling out the requisite forms to get his ship a stem-to-stern inspection, and had also approved shore leave for himself and much of the crew. He would leave the efforts to get a good mission till he beamed down to HQ, though.

A bit of quiet in the Bar therefore seems a good idea. As he plans a rare vacation and a not-so-rare fight with the brass.

Kate's got her security badge easily seen and her feet propped up on the end of a couch as she surveys the room.

It's mostly quiet. It may continue to mostly be quiet.

But she's watching anyway, just in case that changes.

She's also reading a book in between scans, and enjoying it a great deal.

She's enjoying more in general, honestly, with Piotr back, but it's hard to not enjoy a good fantasy novel no matter what. Especially ones that are humorous and make you periodically giggle at the pages.

[OOC: Millitimed to shortly after this, due to mun becoming incredibly sick and unable to get this up any sooner, and the always lovely Heater assured millitime was fine, thank you, Heater! I apologize for any confusion this creates. If your character has since then run into Sylar and would have reacted differently, assume the note fell down and was lost before your character saw it.]

After talking with Simon, Kate scrawls a quick note and posts it for the rest of Security.

Dr. Simon Tam has let me know that someone by the name of Sylar has abducted a patron with what seems to be an intent to kill.

I'm thinking that means this Sylar is in trouble, but at the very least it means that he needs a talk from someone in a position of authority.

And that possibly anyone and everyone should proceed with caution around him. Dr. Tam made it clear he finds Sylar to be extremely dangerous and isn't sure that even most of Security is up to dealing with him. Being careful is a really, really, really good idea, folks.

Coalhouse Walker doesn't like music.

(That--is not quite the truth. But the truth is complicated, and slippery.)

It can be hard to get away from music in Milliways; his booth tonight is diametrically opposite the piano, and he sits with his back to it, but he can't do anything much about the sound system, which pipes strange music in out of thin air.

Some of it hurts his ears, barely recognizable to his turn of the century tastes of music; some of it is bland and practically negligible. And some of it cuts him to the quick.

He's got a bowl of some kind of stew, beef and potatoes and carrots pressure-boiled to a general texture, and a hunk of bread that he tears off an occasional chunk of, and he's trying to not listen to the (bang - bang - bang) music.

Kate's--

She's not exactly stir-crazy.

Mostly, she just...wants her boyfriend to get back. Wants Logan to get back. Wants the cold that hit a few days ago to just finish up entirely already, and wants to have Logan's damned healing factor.

But so far she's 0 for 4.

She's more realistically hoping, as she settles into a booth with her security badge visible, that Ororo might be, but first glance doesn't reveal her either.

And her dragon is God only knows where.

Conclusion: coffee, a book by Emma Bull, and a box of tissues are needed.

She's not using the latter too much, though, and if she thought she was contagious she wouldn't be here.

Which means she's open to interruptions, as lovely as The War of the Oaks is.

ETA: When she gets ready to leave, she notices a note.

And her jaw tightens, as Kate wonders just where Lilly's gone, and hopes the answer isn't one she'll regret asking for.

[OOM: It starts, as these things so often do, in a warehouse with no particular name.]

Ray doesn't stop at the Bar when he comes in today. He goes straight past and over to the stairs instead. Five minutes later he returns, jumpsuit shed in favor of his company T-shirt, a pair of cargos, and his Mr. Stay-Puft slippers.

"I never, never, ever want to see the words 'LeFrak City' on an assignment slip again," he says to Bar. "Can I please have a really big bowl of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs? I know they're not much in the way of nutrition, but I've been good all month."

Somewhat reluctantly, Bar issues him said bowl, along with a sizable mug of Ovaltine.

"You dissolved multivitamins in this, didn't you?"

Bar says nothing.
