David is more than happy to take over for a bit when he gets the note asking him to. He's under a bit of stress at uni (which is fairly standard), so he could use the distraction.

He even scribbles out a quick specials list.

Sam looks up from his experiments with batteries, "Run lines for what?"

David grins at him. "Hello, Sam! I'm in a play at my college. We're going off book next week."

"What's the play? Also I'm glad to help with lines,"

The batteries don't take too much clearing up but the Charter and electricity are making his hair messier than normal.

David smiles fondly at the picture he makes.

"The Importance of Being Earnest," he says, not expecting Sam to know it.

"What's it about? Oh and can I have something to wash my hands and some cider?"

[smallgayjew]

"It's a comedy," David says as he finds a damp cloth for Sam and to pull a pint. "About a man who creates an alter ego for himself so he can be as dissolute as he likes in town and as respectable as he should be in the country."

"Does it work?" It doesn't sound like it would unless he's a good liar.

[smallgayjew]

"For a time, yes," David says, laughing. "But of course, that's where the comedy comes from."

"Oh, I couldn't pull that off. Even when I had an illusion on to help, I still messed things up. If you'd like, I'd enjoy seeing it and Oxford,"

He liked David's world, it reminded him on Ancelstierre.

Harry has his most quotable years ahead of him, but of course, he's not to know that.

He saunters up to the counter already grinning. "Cider? A fine treat! I'll have one, though you must humor me -- what does it mean, to run lines?"

The lines David has to run won't be Harry's anyway. He smiles and moves to pull a pint of cider for him.

"I'm to be in a play. It's a way to help me memorize my part."

"Are you a player by trade?" He nods his thanks for the glass.

They look like they could be the same age, to Harry's eye, though of course, so many here at 17 or 18 seem so much younger to him.

"No, a student," David answers. "At Oxford," he adds, wondering if the man will know it.

Matters so far to the south concern him little. He wags his eyebrows. "I have seen the town, and the school, though most recently I was hosted by a lady I shall not marry. I hail from Northumberland, and I'll wager many a hundred year separate from your time."

"Yes, I would guess we are." He laughs softly, nodding.

"I'm from Yorkshire, myself."

Harry grins. "Shall I have heard of the place? If I meet an American, it seems they all live in New York, though I stand assured the other has not been lost."

"It hasn't, though I lived in Sheffield when I was there."

"Lines?"

"Yes, for a play."

[a1enzo]

"Oh!" Shrug. "Sure, why not? I'm not very good, though."

Seriously. He's not.

"That's all right. I don't need you to act. I just need to remember my lines."

"I'll be glad to help, then."

"Brilliant," David says, pulling out two copies of The Importance of Being Earnest. "Would you like something to drink first?"

"Sure. A BlackBerry energy shake, please. You ever made digital drinks before?"

"No, I'm sorry. Is it difficult?"
