Aug. 6th, 2006 11:00 amSantino moved into Milliways, clean and polished, wearing today a dark brown leather rather than black. Shoes well-polished, as if new. Hair at it's full length, as stubbley as always.
He sat at an open table, ordered himself a drink and paid the rat in cash. He took a sip and commenced people watching. He would definitely not be adverse to company.

Aug. 6th, 2006 02:26 pmOutside, under the shade of the trees at the edge of the forest, there is a birthday party going on.
Shufti has laid several large picnic rugs down on the grass, one of which Jack is lying on, watching a passing butterfly.
On small folding tables is a selection of picnic food and paper plates. Sausages on sticks, little cheese and pineapple sticks, fresh fruit, some in sticks with dips. Then there is some more traditional Discworld food, figgins, strawberry wobbler, distressed pudding, cinnamon and marshmallow fingers, celery astonishment and, for the more adventurous, Bananana soup surprise and dwarf bread. On another is a birthday cake with eighteen candles on. A third table has drinks, mainly soft drinks but some beer cans out of reach of children.
[ooc: Normal party post practice applies. Invitations for Molly, Hank, Matilda Wormwood, Mathilda Lando, Mal, Susan Sto Helit, Nerdanel, Asar-Suti and Amanda can be found here. Slowtime as necessary is fine. Friendly gatecrashers will not be shot.]

Aug. 6th, 2006 07:12 pmIt seems that KARR has finally had enough of banging into-and getting stuck on-chairs and tables today. The AI can be found outside near the lake, practicing turns, braking, and occasionally flinging himself through the air in a turboboost. It's a way to relieve boredom-and he hasn't shown off in ages.
He'd welcome people to talk to, but staying out of the way is advisable.

Happy Hour
Aug. 6th, 2006 09:17 pmIndy was pretty drunk when he left Lilly at the wedding reception in Tortall and returned to the bar. The relatively simple task of removing his tunic, boots and leggings turned into a long and arduous eventa battle royale in which victory very nearly went to the hose. However, doggedness eventually won through over malcoordination, and the outlandish clothes were successfully shed. It was only while he was getting set to sprawl out on the couch for the evening that he actually remembered about his bartending shift.
As a result, Veronica is already waiting for him as he gets downstairs, and making significant glances at her watch. "Where were you?" she queries once he's shambled behind the bar and sloshed his face in one of the sinks.
"A wedding," is the grunted reply.
"I guess they had a bartender too?"
Indy mumbles something under his breath, and Veronica just laughs.
Over the next hour, he offers her some quick and dirty training, and spills far more drinks than his student. But, by the end of it, there is at least a semblance of sobriety about him—enough that he can work the shift semi-professionally. Veronica, in the meantime, is having a blast, and after flipping through the book of drinks, she writes up the Specials:
When he's satisfied that everything's ready, Indy takes his usual serving position and gives her the word. "Alright, we're on the clock. Open her up."
She gives him a nod, and tosses a bar towel over her shoulder.
"Okay, guys. Jones and Mars are at your service and Happy Hour is on. What'll it be?"

Aug. 6th, 2006 09:20 pmAfter Molly's party the night before, Angela is in the bar.
She looks a little tired, though she does look better than she did, which isn't saying much.
Angela just might be a tad hungover.
Never, ever again...
She's drinking tea and eating dry toast. She's feeling better, and thank goodness for ibuprofen.
She'd like conversation.
Quiet conversation.

Aug. 6th, 2006 09:39 pmGuppy is sitting by the infirmary, having dinner and people watching, although it's looking a little on the quiet side.
He'd be happy to talk to anyone, otherwise he'll end up having to do his paperwork.

Aug. 6th, 2006 10:03 pmTrina is in the bar, in jeans and sandals and a sweater, eating frozen champagne grapes and surrounded by a pile of magazines and tabloids. She's on the cover of all of them, which have glaring headlines like, "Whirlwind Wedding," and "Gone In Sixty Hours" and "Chad and Trina Married By The King" and "Jerrica Heartbroken."
It's important, after all, to keep up with one's press. Especially when there's a dinner riding on it.
Feel free to interrupt if you want to, you know, congratulate the bride.

Aug. 6th, 2006 11:11 pmOrdinarily it would be nice to say that Wells is here because he's got some sort of newspaper to check out, or some book to study up on, or one of those things- but really, he's not. He's here because he can get a good drink and then get outside for a while without feeling like half of London's breathing down his neck. Milliways parcels out people in perfectly acceptable doses, it seems to him. He'll take what he gets tonight.

Aug. 6th, 2006 11:16 pmKaylee has something that looks an awful lot like a strawberry milkshake with a curly straw jutting out of it.
She also has an Erector set, and is currently trying to construct something very...tall.
This is perhaps the only structure her structure has, thus far. 'Tall'.

Aug. 6th, 2006 11:28 pm[OOM: When they were young lads, Archie Kennedy and Henry Wellard grew up hearing the adventure tales of one Captain Jack Sparrow. To their surprise, they -- along with Svava -- find themselves taking part in one of them: The Adventure of the NeverEnding Night.
Once all's said and done, it turns out that the night itself isn't quite over. After noticing one ship in particular, Jack leads the three newest members of his crew over to pay a special visit to a certain Commodore Lyon of the British East India Company.

Aug. 6th, 2006 11:48 pmCard tricks are a useful thing, good for distracting oneself. Or for keeping one's hands busy while contemplating other things. The far-off look in Hughes' eyes suggests the latter use tonight. That does not mean the display may not be entertaining. Even lost in contemplation (of what is anyone's guess), the man has finesse that could make a stage magician jealous.
Thoughtful or no, he is naturally sociable, and would not be at all adverse to company. Or, barring that, an audience. He can pull coins from behind someone's ear too.
