The final layer of encryption on the Aperture data is proving to be remarkably stubborn. Alyx has, at least, confirmed that it is the final layer, which means the trickier code is understandable. Whatever they're, the higher-ups at Aperture wanted it to stay hidden.

Hopefully, it's something of vital importance to their portal research that could give the Resistance another edge over the Combine. But given that this is Aperture Science we're talking about, it could just as easily be Cave Johnson's secret devil's food cake recipe. Who knows?

Anyway, Alyx is in Milliways in the hope that a change of venue will help her work. She's got the laptop, a legal pad full of notes, and a heaping platter of onion rings.

(What? Just because she's working doesn't mean she can't soothe her pregnancy cravings at the same time.)

A man enters the Bar and stops for a moment, this wasn't the inn he was expecting to find.

His suit is meant to make him look like just a man who's a little hard on his luck with some wear on the elbows and knees.

He looks around to try and gauge what's normal here and that ends up rather harder than he hoped so he carefully schools his face into an expression of confusion and moves out of the way of the door. Hopefully someone will help a confused new person.

There seems to be a ruckus going on outside the bar door this afternoon. The sounds of lasers and mechanical transformation can be heard in the distance and then the revving of the motor. The door rattles with the sounds of battle, then it suddenly flings open. If one were looking, one would see a motorcycle with a helmeted figure on it. Those familiar with the Transformer's universe might recognize the small Autobot emblem on his left chestplate. The motorcycle's back tire flies upward as the figure goes flying through the bar door and into one of the chairs nearby. Luckily, it's a soft chair.

The figure looks around, alarmed and then cocks their head to the side as it realizes that... This isn't Ocean City.

Ganymede is in the bar today, but not doing anything usually seen from him; he has a small laptop--thankfully the Bar set it up for him and gave him the fairly standard instructions to its use--and is working with what appears to be finances.

There is a small vineyard that he likes, and has the money and desire to own.

Just as soon as he figures out the necessary evils of business accounting.

Jean-Luc Picard enters the holodeck doors, decked out in his Dixon Hill outfit, ready to become his favorite detective. When he's dumped into a bar full of patrons that don't all look human or dressed for the era, he's confused, but decides to play along. That's why he'll be found by the fireplace, watching the goings-on with great interest.

(OOC: Due to migraine, this post is in auto-slowtime, and also taggable until it falls off the front page. Thanks!)

Tyler's out by the lake right now, practicing with his wooden chinese broadsword. And actually he seems to be taking through the stances and katas a little aggressively.

It's been a long couple of days at school. Right after getting back from vacation it seemed there was a new set of problems back home. By the end of the day, he hadn't gotten in any sword practice at all, and was so frustrated he really didn't trust himself to try practicing in Cecil's backyard again.

While they're generally very happy about Tyler coming over to play, he's pretty sure they'd get upset about him working his stress out back there.

So there's a few less tall weeds along the shore of the lake.

Happy Hour

As much as Dan enjoyed getting to inhabit a body with two fully-functioning legs, there's something to be said about feeling comfortable in your own skin.

Of course, when he comes downstairs to grab himself a drink, he spots the tabs board and has to consider just how much he's got to his name. He's not too bad off, but he could use to make up a bit of the difference, which is why when the napkin pops up asking him to keep an eye on things for awhile, he obliges.

(Bar helps him pick some specials, before she grabs some shut-eye.)

Specials
Voodoo Dew
Montana Tornado
Dixieland Tea

Black Cow #3
(non-alcoholic)

Soon, there is an actual bartender behind the bar, as well as his ever-faithful assistant, Bogart. (Who is content to remain stationary, his leather halter and leash tied to a knob behind the counter, and a plate of apples in front of him.)

They'll be here for the next few hours!

Okay, so her last visit here was maybe something less than a complete success.

But you know what they say. When you get thrown, then you have to get right back up, eviscerate the horse who had the audacity to throw you, and then get on the next one, right?

There's a brunette in a black dress sitting in one of the booths tonight, idly stirring her appletini with a swizzle stick, and watching the other patrons through currently brown eyes.

Not quite an OOM(Millitimed to last week):
River and Tom both promised Havelock that they would try and help Puck with his vampiric dilemma. They first had to figure out if they could work together. Mind reading is not an exact science!

The door simply opens and shuts, letting a young woman, primly dressed, enter. The business jacket and modest skirt are both navy blue, with a school crest blazoned on the lapel. Her hair is pulled back into a neat twist- but no, no glasses. The lady can see well enough without any such thing, thank you.

Under one arm is a book. Gilt-topped pages, bound in blind-stamped morocco, that exudes the aura of rare first edition. Old and well-kept, but it's not hers.

As Athena glances around the bar, the person said book belongs to, from whom she borrowed it quite a few years ago, is nowhere to be seen. Well, that should have been expected.

With an exceedingly faint shrug, she starts over toward the bar.

(New mun with a char that's been played here before- but I am starting her over with a fresh slate. Thank you!)

(And, the mun is off for sleep. Post is open for tags for the next couple of days for slowtimes!)

Jack's currently sitting at the bar, drink next to his right hand, a book propped up in front of him.  Or, more specifically, a Sony Daily Edition Color eReader; not exactly top-of-the-line for his time, but it's about as fancy as he remembers ebook readers being, the last time he saw one.  It's not what he would have chosen, but besides the text-to-speech capability which helps when he finds it hard to concentrate on print, there's one big advantage.

When you're using an eReader, no one can tell what you're reading, and right now he's thinking there's a certain New York detective that might be kind of embarrassed to see that he's reading Heat Wave.  He probably wouldn't have touched it, if it wasn't for his need to do something that might even be remotely useful in helping Beckett.  If all he can do is read about the character that the killer is obsessed with, then he'll do it.

He hasn't gotten to page 104 yet, and one can only guess what his reaction's going to be when he gets to it.  Someone might want to distract him before he gets that far, or just to give him a reason to look away from the screen.  Even though it's not backlit, he's still getting a headache.

[ooc: Am hitting the wall tired-wise and heading to bed, but post is open for the rest of this week if anyone wants to tag!]
