Will's outside at the archery range, its a good thing to do as he thinks about what maybe coming this tax time.

Also he's worrying about Guppy though at least Kate's doing better.

"Well you've got a helluva gap 'tween the two of your times. Can't imagine bein' with a lady's changed that much," he quips.

Will just laughs, which feels good,

"'ow are ye 'ealin' up?"

Doc's shirt isn't tucked in, so he tugs it up a bit to reveal the well healed line of pink skin from where Dr. Ford took the bullet out of him.

"I'll have a scar but hell, I'm used to those. Leg's fine. Arm's still givin' me a lick of trouble," he admits. "But it's 'cause I'm usin' it more than the others."

"Oh aye, good. Wish to spar a bit?"

Doc considers this. He's not actually in a mood for sparring.

"I talked to Robin -- the fox -- the other day, he was givin' me some advice about shootin'. I could go git my bow and could show you what he showed me?"

"Aye, that sounds good."

"I'll be right back, then," he says, before he heads back to the bar, jogging, to fetch his things.

So Will goes to fetch his arrows out of the target while he waits for Doc.

When he returns, he has he bow over his shoulder and a long sleeved shirt, and a pair of water bottles as well as a quiver of practice arrows.

"I've been workin' on my own, ain't great but I've gotten better."

"Show me 'ow ye're doin' first then."

"Right."

He sets the water down and then the quiver, and then selects an arrow.

just an extension of your body

The bow is brought up and drawn back, it still aches a little to get the full weight of the draw but it doesn't hurt, and the arrow flies to the target and hits a bit low.

The next one he corrects a bit.

"The arc is the hardest part."

"Aye, good for ye though."

"It's no surprise you've got bigger arms than I do, what with holdin' this steady."

Doc aims again, and it's still a bit low but eventually they get closer.

"Robin is an incredible shot, both yours and the fox."

"Well, aye, 'e's Robin, finest archer in all England. Been doin' this since I was a lad is all."

"Who taught you first?"

Everytime he draws his arm aches a bit less than before, so that's good.

"Me Da with a wee bow, but Robin made me a true archer. Tis a law in England that e'ery man must know 'ow to fire a longbow. Many can fire one, tis knowin' 'ow to truly 'andle a bow that makes the difference."

"I know your mama's still around, is your dad as well?" Doc asks, as he draws another arrow from the quiver. "And law, seriously?"

"Oh aye, she is, worryin' a good bit. Tis so they can call us up an use us as fodder in the battles."

"My daddy taught me t'shoot," he says. "Still remember the first time I held that big rifle. Knocked me flat on my ass."

"First thing Robin made me do was just stand there with the bow drawn, thought me arms would fall off."

"Shit," he says, impressed, as he draws the bow and holds it. "You must be able to stay still now."

"'ave to, canna 'unt down a deer if ye're fidgettin' all 'bout the place."

Will lines up beside Doc with a nod and starts firing his quiver.

"Talent is bein' able to sight a squirrel," Doc says.

Will? Is much better than Doc. But Doc is not half bad.

Helps if you already know how to aim and steady yourself,

"Aye, I've bit o'a talent with a blade an me fingers."

"When did you start training with Robin?"
