Demeter has spent many of the past days in the infirmary watching over Carlotta and she's taking a small break over by the fire.

Her legs are curled up under her and she's staring into the fire, thinking about what Kore was like when she was that young though her hair was never quite that curly.

Knox is sitting at the bar, reading a stack of letters to his newspaper. He nods at the older woman (not recognizing her at all).

Demeter gives him an absent smile, not really registering who he is yet, she's thinking of a time when Kore fell in a river and ended up playing with the reeds.

"Been outside?" He's not one for the fireplace, even with Rapunzel too often.

"Oh no, I just like feeling warm."

Now she sees him and smiles, "Hello, Alex, I believe?"

"Yeah. Have we met?" He thinks he's good with faces. It's a reporter thing.

"Yes, I'm Demeter and you're with Rapunzel."

He blinks. "Err...no offense, but you look older." That must be the worst haircut anyone ever got. "Not that you look bad. But...you were younger than me."

Demeter gives him a smile and decides to stay with the simplest answer for now,

"I usually do in the Winter."

He thinks. "That's a god thing, right?

"I'm not good with Greek myth. Unless you count those old films as being accurate."

"Greetings, my Demeter!" Teja says, turning up beside her.

She looks over and smiles at him before giving him a hug,

"Come and be warm."

Teja embraces her, also, and then sits by her.

He is silent for a while, looking at the fire.

Then, "Something in this place wishes to keep Carlotta; we were alerted and taken to her world in ways that go beyond the uncanny."

"She needed more help than they could give her, we were needed to save her life. It was simply the workings of Fate."

"But it was so very much meant, as if devised by a mind," Teja says.

He seems to be ill at ease with the idea.

"It is good, truly good, that we got to her; but the hand that guided us makes me uneasy."

"I'm glad then of whoever thought of the idea then. Why?"

"There never was a thing like that before," Teja says, still sounding worried. "I like not the thought that there is one that would twitch my strings upon a whim."

Demeter gives him a rather long look,

"Teja, what of the Fates?"

Charlie's got a cup of tea--though he's not nearly as fond of it as others--with him as he comes to Demeter, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"You look worried."

"Carlotta was so close to death and I keep remembering Kore when she was that young."

She leans over and hugs him, doing her best to not bump his tea.

He perches on the back of the couch near her and returns her hug. "She's alright now, isn't she?"

He can't give any comment as to Kore, as he's never had children.

"I hope so, she seems to be improving."

"She's here, in the infirmary then?" Charlie asks, putting an arm around Demeter. She looks like she might need the affection.

She leans into him,

"Yes, I've been there with her as much as I can. She's awake now at least."

"That's good. I'll make sure and go see her, soon." He let her lean in, and tightened his arms around her. "How have you been?"

"A bit tired, I've been doing my best to be there whenever she wakes up."
