So, Anita's been busy.

In the meddlesome, over-protective, annoying way she usually is, but she has been busy.

However, at the moment, she is preparing to step back through the door to St. Louis. She had spent most of the time with her pard and Damian, but had run across Richard a couple of times. Tense, as usual, and the conversation always short-lived. She was always chasing after someone, needing to be somewhere else.

Tonight, though, she's seated in a booth, readying herself to go back to the city.

To go back, tell Jean-Claude about this place, and drag his ass back somehow.

But, before she does that, she's hoping to talk to a couple of people.

She does not seem overly worried or shocked, which speaks for her coming from a world that is cruel and bloody by default. And St. Louis, of course.

"Are you from the same world then as Elizabeth, the were-leopard?" Teja asks. "She is from St. Louis, also."

Teja dislikes being this clandestine and deceptive, feigning polite interest when truly, he would show his displeasure at who this woman seems to be after all, despite her lack of beauty.

"So you are a were-leopard, also?" Teja says.

"But they are not dead?" Teja says.

Among all the things people had told about this woman, they had failed to mention that she is an evil witch that will raise and command the dead.

Teja very much does not smirk at the pronouncement of 'I am the lupa' -- considering what that word meant among the Romans.

Yes, very much so, from what Teja had heard. Still, he fails to see what would make this woman so desirable: unless she has some secret force of attraction that he, as a lover of men, is utterly oblivious to.

"It must be much work," Teja says, deadpan.

"Oh, not everyone manages to manage his own life," Teja says.

Much less manage the lives of all around them, from what he heard.

"And many manage barely, but moan much," he adds.

"Indeed," Teja says. "That is what I would do."

Unless there was nothing to do -- then, Teja would readily give in to melancholy; but that only drove him to silence, not complaints.

"I think many weak-willed men from the future," Teja says, "would rather look for who they can blame. And a Roman might have looked for who they might sue."

"So did I," Teja says.

She sounds more sensible than he had expected, so far.

Teja nods to her, and walks away.

At least he knows what she looks like, now.
