As lovely as Okinawa is, there's a few things Dinah misses about her life in America. The biggest candidate is her family; her mother and her uncles, who write, but not often enough. It leaves a space for her to want to fill.

The other thing, she never thought she'd miss in February, but she finds she is, as That Holiday nears. As this is why there is now a sign on the notice board:#

Valentine's Bouquets

Romance, friendship, family, say it with flowers this year. Bouquets, arrangements and stems delivered to your loved ones this Valentines Day.

All proceeds to go to the fund for the Bound - see Dinah Lance for more questions.

She takes a seat near the board, but she also leaves a collection of order forms and an envelope to gather them in.

Scorpius stares at the posting. His bottom lip tucked between his teeth as he worries at it. He hasn't anyone to send a bouquet to. Not like- like a girlfriend. But maybe he should send some to Mia?

It says family. And she is, sort of. It'd be a nice gesture, anyway.

He doesn't know the first thing about flowers though. Or if it'd be safe, what with the baby.

"Er," he turns to the person nearest the board, "Do you know if flowers are safe for pregnant women?"

No, it's a good question.

Scorpius's head bobs in thought. He's never seen Mia eat flowers before.

"I don't think so. Not unless she's developed a craving for them. I haven't seen her in awhile."

Hm. Well, "She's definitely human. I'm pretty sure of that. My dad's still married to her, anyway."

He goes back to studying the board again, before leaning over once more.

"What kind of flowers would a florist recommend for a mother?"
alsoagreengrass: shy, thoughtful, insecure (I won't do it anymore)

Herbology? Is not Scorpius's strongest subject. It shows on his face when she starts naming off flowers. "Er, sure. I think?"

"Oh." He's a crease at his brow as he studies the photos very carefully. "Why don't they move? Is this a Muggle book?"

He pokes the book as if that might hold its secrets. It's rather boring that they don't move. Some movement in a breeze, surely would be a better selling feature and -

Oh. Right.

"Uh, yes, those will do. I think she'd like them. More colorful, the better."

He snags an order form.

Urquhart has no idea what Saint Valentine has to do with flowers. As far as he knows, that's just one more silly saint.

"Better," Urquhart says. "I got a little globe from the bar, which shows what the earth is really like. Scotland, Japan, the Antipodes, everywhere. Of course, it doesn't tell me about the time when it was all still one."
scots_wolf: (Deep look)

[personal profile] scots_wolf 2010-02-07 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do you think the continents moved far from 1260 to around 2000?" Urquhart asks.

"That's one of those in the New World, North or South America?" Urquhart says. He has been looking at his globe for a while.

"There's a lot of countries there."

They really could be touch and go about even caring or remembering holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, so it's not too uncertainly or certainly that Edward studies the large advertisement on the board.

There's a small wrinkle to his features, "It's late March back at home."

But it's been a very rocky last few weeks for all of them.
And sometimes that means bending the rules might not be so bad.

He considers that for a moment looking over at the girl.

It's probably the most right thing she could have said, as the next thing he did was hold out a hand for a pen or a order form.
themidnightson: "That's Edward Cullen." (Default)

"Edward--" He was looking down the paper. "--Cullen."
He glanced up again, a second late but still normality.

"Is your sale going well?"
