Quentin's sitting at the counter with one of the brochures and a pen marking that parts that don't make sense. There are lots of questions marks and use of a few specific words; how?, contract?.

He's eating a sandwich with a soda beside him as he works, looking up sometimes to note who comes in. When he goes back home, he's going to have as much information as possible about Milliways in case he comes back again or doesn't.

His disguise is up, leaving him looking like a fifteen year old boy just one who tends to hold his back rather straight.

"Writing things down is a good start," Autor says, gesturing to the question marks on the brochure. "Is there anything about this that could be better worded, or use more information?"

"I'm not the best one to answer that as I can't judge what's missing."

"Ah, fair," Autor says, nodding again. "I suppose it could use a section about a lack of rulers here, and how everything in volunteer. Would that help with the culture shock?"

"It could be useful for someone coming from a culture like me."

"Well, all right then," Autor says, inclining his head. "You've already helped."

Quentin shrugs and orders a soda from Bar,

"Good to know I could be of use."

"Everyone is useful in some way," Autor says, shrugging back. He calls writing materials out of his sylladex, itself a leather-bound book, to take notes. "What sorts of points would that section need to make people like you more comfortable?"

"How did you do that?"

Autor holds up his sylladex. "Standard sylladex," he says. "A portable dimensional storage system. I spoke a couplet--'To keep an adjunct to remember thee, were to import forgetfulness in me.*'--and called out what I needed."

"Portable dimensional storage system. Is the couplet tied to opening it or retrieving a specific item?"

"Retrieving," Autor says, putting his sylladex back into his pocket. "Anyway, about that guide."

"So you have a different piece of poetry for everything you have in there?"

His magic requires a song or something to focus it but it doesn't have to be the same every time.

"Essentially," Autor says, pursing his lips. "There is a lot of poetry in the world to choose from." He scribbles out a title on his notes. "So we've talked about a lack of rulers, and how everything is volunteer. What else about this place did you find most disconcerting?"

"I agree, its useful that way. Did you make that or did someone else?"

"You should already know the answer to that," Autor says, shaking his head. "You haven't answered my questions yet."

"Its technology and magic, even if you didn't make it, you've clearly adapted it to work for you. I can't think of anything else to be added,"

Its sort of like what the phones they make at ALH.

"It's technology sufficiently advanced," Autor says, adjusting his glasses. He sets his notes aside. "And I picked it up here."

"Like your magic carpet? What did you give in exchange for them?"

They both must have been costly trades.

"The carpet I worked three jobs over an extended period of time for, and bought," Autor says, watching him carefully. "The sylladex was gifted for free."

"A generous gift," Quentin's face is neutral as he listens.

"It was," Autor admits. "Do you have any gifts like that?"

He sips his soda instead of answering, he hasn't asked for a lot from the Luidaeg, but in other ways a lot, just not things,

Soon he's going to ask to be Toby's squire but that's different, "No, I don't."

"Do you have magical artifacts available like the carpet?" the boy asks, accepting a cup of tea from a wait rat.

"Yes, we do have some."

"Oh? Like what?" Autor says, sipping his tea.
