Dianne smiles a little. "Neither can I, but it seems she does have a mind of her own at times," she says. "For all I know, she's just keeping me here for as long as need be. Until it's safe at home." She really wishes she'd gotten around to trying the door earlier. She rather suspects that she holds some sort of record for Longest Gone Without Checking That You Can Bloody Leave Already.

"Well, we'll see. I hope you can come back, though."

"So do I." She hugs Liam impulsively. Also carefully, so as not to knock Megan off balance.

Liam grins and hugs her back.

Megan promptly latches onto her leg for no apparent reason.

~~As her mun wonders how she missed Liam putting Megan on the floor,~~ Dianne giggles and reaches an arm down to include Megan in the hug.

Megan laughs and hugs her back.

Dianne savors the moment - the warmth and connection - as it might be one of her last in Milliways. "Glad I got to meet Megan, anyway," she murmurs to Liam.

"Me too", he answers with a smile.

Dianne sighs and rests her head on his shoulder, and strokes Megan's hair, loath to let the moment go. There's a security about it that she wants to hold onto, if only for a few seconds more.

He doesn't push her to let go before she's ready, arms loosely around her.

Megan attempts to crawl onto her knees.

Dianne takes a deep shuddering breath, but is suddenly keenly aware - if she loses it now, there's no telling how soon she'll be able to pull herself together.

So she lets go of Liam and smiles brightly down at Megan, then leans down to pick her up. "Hi."

Megan beams at her brightly.

"Hi!"

"How you doin', hon?" Dianne asks. "You like it here?"

"Yep!"

"Good," Dianne smiles. "Good thing your daddy brought your here, then, huh?" - with a quick wink at Liam.

"Yep. Unca Charee. Choc'lat."

The girl knows her priorities.

Dianne grins. "The important things in life."

Megan nods seriously.

Dianne shifts her grip on Megan a bit. Conversing with a two year old is a fairly new thing to her, but she thinks she's off to a fairly decent start. "Has he brought you here before?"

"Yep. One."

"Once", Liam translates.

Dianne smiles a bit at Liam in thanks, then nods at Megan. "Good. So it's familiar already, then. Have you made friends here?"

"Sunny! Zi'fel."

Dianne can make out the first two syllables, and opts not to worry about the last two. "Sunny? I haven't met Sunny. Is" - wild guess - "she nice?"

Megan nods.

"Pretty hair. Bites."

"She bites?" Dianne asks. "Why?"
