*writes down "Milly" and "Wade"*

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
*notices the list in passing, and raises an eyebrow before firmly adding "JANE" and "BILLY"*

...Someone's got to have mercy on those poor kids...

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Better than being called Skylar Hops Perdition or Hope Purgatory or somesuch nonsense.

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. If you want to sound like a sort of seaweed product, that is.

[identity profile] anthy-rosebride.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
*looks triumphant*

Hob isn't normal, either.

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
*scowls*

Robert. Robert is a perfectly normal, good, old-fashioned name, as was Hob if you happened to be named it in the 14th century.

And as for Fables, 's probably why they all end so badly. Crises of identity, complexes about whosit and whatist. No wonder. Surprised they haven't all killed each other off by now.

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
*glares daggers at Anthy.*

Don't get me started, sweetheart.

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Cos you're named Anthy, is why. Anthy. Sounds like someone tried to say Anthony and halfway through got drunk and missed a few letters. Wouldn't go mocking other people's names if I were you.

[identity profile] anthy-rosebride.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It's Greek. It means flower. It's a perfectly good name.

Nobody thinks it sounds like Anthony where I'm from.

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And where's that, exactly? Cloud Cuckoo Land?

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. I see. And is everyone in Japan wearing bindis, these days?

[identity profile] anthy-rosebride.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No. What does that have to do with anything?

[identity profile] bobby-gadling.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing. I simply hoped it would piss you off.

[identity profile] anthy-rosebride.livejournal.com 2004-07-31 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. I'm sorry to disappoint you.

*Elizabeth notes the conversation by the bulletin board and walks over.*

Robert is a perfectly sensible name. There is naught wrong with it in the slightest.

*She adds the names 'Charles', 'Edward', and 'Julia' to the list, and smiles as she notes Hob's addition of 'Jane'.*

I must own a certain partiality for 'Jane', as the name is that of my elder sister. It is an excellent choice.

I suggest John/Jack/Hans/Ivan for the windboy (a good, solid fairy tale name frequently given to boys) or Peter (another fairy tale name (http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/norway133.html), and after Lord Peter Wimsey, who helped deliver the twins) with any of the following as middle names:

Aeolus (ruler of the winds)
Africus (the southwest wind of rain and storms)
Auster(the south wind)
Boreas (the north wind)
Corus (the northwest wind)
Eulus (the southeast or east wind)
Favonius (the west wind)
Iapyx (the west-northwest wind)
Zephyrus (a warm west wind)

For the girl--Elise, perhaps, after Elizabeth Bennet, who delivered her? The princess in "The Six Swans" is variously called Elsie or Elise, depending on the version.

If that doesn't suit, maybe Maria (one of the names that Snow White is given in Italy (http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/type0709.html#maria)), Lisa (the other name (http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/type0709.html#youngslave) given to Snow White in Italy), Anne (the sister of Bluebeard (http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/type0312.html#perrault)'s wife) or Catherine (Catherine and Her Destiny (http://etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/l/l26pf/chapter21.html) from Andrew Lang's The Pink Fairy Book).
