Sara has put her things away the room and placed a few personal effects around.

"Strange...this place seems more like home than my apartment ever did."

With a slight shrug, she gets dressed for the day. Jeans and a black Talk Nerdy To Me shirt. She wanders downstairs into the bar for breakfast.

Pester at will.

She smiles briefly, appreciatively.

"Oh, Kim, I'm sorry to hear that. And no, you don't. No matter what the age."

"How old were you?" Kim asks softly.

"When my father was killed? Twelve. And I honestly cannot bring myself to be angry with Mom. I really can't."

"I can't imagine what it must have been like to live in a house like that." Well she can, but her time spent with Gary is not at all the same thing.

"Something tells me you know all to well what it is like," Sara says gently. If Kim doesn't want to talk, she doesn't have to. But Sara is more than willing to listen.

"After my mom died things were weird for a while so I took a job as a live-in-helper with this family. There was a little girl, Megan who was adorable and her parents seemed to love her. Until one day I discovered her dad hurt her and I tried to take her away...her mom wound up dead."

"Christ." Sara is horrified. "I'm so sorry, Kim."

"I've had a kind of strange life," Kim says, which is an understatment.

"So anyone else from your time here?"

"Not that I've seen. Then again, it's probably just a matter of time--" she winces at the pun--"before one shows up."

"In this bar? That's very true. I was the second or third one from my time to arrive and then...people just started showing up."

She laughs at that. "Well, if Grissom ever shows up here, I hope I can see the look on his face."

"Who is he?"

"My mentor and my former supervisor. Intelligent, obsessed with bugs, and really hates being put in situations that are beyond his scope of experience." The thought makes her giggle.

"Former supervisor?" Kim picks up on these things.

"Yeah...I got fired yesterday." Sara shrugs. "It happens. I'll still maintain a friendship with him and some of my colleagues but..." she shrugs again.

"That's terrible, did they give you a reason?"

"Budget constraints. Which is Ecklie-speak for 'I hate you and want you gone, therefore you're fired.' Ecklie's the lab assistant director and a real asshole."

Kim makes a face. "That's a terrible excuse. Do you have any idea what you want to do next?"

"Mmm...I've decided to take a break. I have enough saved up where I wouldn't have to work for a few years. And I'm feeling run down, so I think I'll just hang out here for a while."

"This is a good place to waste a lot of time. Ask the bar for a book if you haven't already." Kim smiles a little. "I'm not working right now, either."

"The bar provides books?" Sara laughs a bit at that. "Shouldn't surprise me."

"The bar provides...pretty much everything and anything. It's amazing that way."

"Yeah..they should think about adding on a shopping center here for the denizens who can't leave. They'd probably appreciate that," she muses, thinking about Barry.

"A shopping center would be an excellent idea. Especially when you need to give someone a gift. Then again, I'm not sure where they'd put it."

She smiles wryly. "They managed to anchor a lake outside, after all."
