She looks pretty tired, but rather satisfied, as she sits in a booth not really reading her Poetry book.

She looks up, her eyebrows go up, and a small, surprised smile lights her face. "Hey, you. Where've you been hiding?"

“In my room,” he says, taking a seat next to her. “Wasn’t feeling too good.”

She gives him a concerned look as she shifts to give him room. "Are you okay now?"

“Better than okay. Michelle and I are getting married.”

". . . .You're kidding."

“I am? I don’t usually make jokes about getting married, Nita.”

"Oh my God!"

He is glomped.

"Congratulations!"

Oh, Nita is a girl, Nita is a girl, nothing to worry about…he hugs her back a little awkwardly, smiling. “Thank you,” he says.

She pulls back, grinning. "Really married?"

“Really married what?” Because some people think he and Michelle are already married, and others are surprised that they aren’t married yet.

She rolls her eyes. "Ring and everything?"

“Yeah,” he replies, smiling. “She said she wanted an engagement ring so I’m gona buy one for her. I’ll start looking soon. Tomorrow maybe. Or Friday.”

She grins. "That is so cool. When did this happen?"

“Yesterday morning. We were talking some things over and she gave me the perfect opportunity to propose. So I did.”

"Wow. Congratulations," she repeats. "So life is good, huh?"

He nods. “Yeah, life is good. Is everything good with you?”

"Pretty much." She settles back in her seat. "Work, old -- acquaintances in the bar. . ."

“Good or bad?” He has personal experience with both good and bad acquaintances in the bar. Seems more bad than good these days.

“How so?” Tony’s not taking evasiveness from her, oh no.

She sighs. "It's a long story. Have you been out by the lake recently?"

“No. But KARR told me about the shark.”

Cue “Jaws” theme. And an uneasy look on Tony’s face.

"That would be the acquaintance. He -- died for me. But he was supposed to kill me." She sighs. "It's complicated."

“Yeah. Sounds like it’s complicated,” he says, staring.

"Yeah, so that's awkward. . ." She sighs. "But otherwise. . ."
