(no subject)

Life, it seems, had taken on some sort of routine, whether or not that routine was actually preferable. Stay at the... place they were staying at (certainly not home), go out for a few things but mostly patrol, go back. The bar had stopped inserting itself, and while he was grateful to not have to discuss things, he wasn't grateful for the absence.

But his routine had changed in the last few days, mostly because his father had decided he deserved some sort of break. He'd protested, and tried his best not to, but in the end got ushured off because his father was even more stubborn than he was. So it's been a lot less stressful, and now it seems that the bar is inserting itself once more.

Because instead of ending up where he wants to go, he ends up there instead.

He really has no idea if he's grateful or reluctant about it. He supposes he'll just have to decide after sitting here for awhile in a booth, and seeing who comes around.

"But isn't a good thing that you're on vacation? It gives you time to find yourself again." Not that it was that easy -- he knew that from experience.

"Maybe...when you began to lose track of yourself? As far back as you can remember?" It was weird, helping someone out like this, but that didn't mean he wasn't willing to.

"That's...true enough." After his relationship with Jenn had fallen apart, Kyle had felt like everything else had. That had been a hard time for him. Hopefully, he could help Connor so he didn't feel the same way.

"But I know you're you. And that you're a good man," he said firmly.

"What...exactly are you having problems with?" Kyle asked, genuinely concerned.

Ah. That question. It was a question that every hero had to ask for himself, at least once in their life. After all, they served the public, even if it was in a different way from the police.

"Do you like what you do, Connor? Being Green Arrow?"

[identity profile] collar-fetish.livejournal.com 2005-09-27 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
"You're still Green Arrow, whether you realize it or not. I mean, sure, your old man's back and all, but you still represent Green Arrow to a lot of people." It was just how it worked. You became a symbol, in a way.

Talk about it. Kyle had done the same, only with him, he had somewhere else to go to try to re-establish a life for himself.

"You shouldn't. You make a damn fine Green Arrow, if I do say so myself," he said in a bit of a lighter tone, grinning.

Kyle was lucky. He coudn't stay, so he didn't. And he had a place he could go. He knew he was lucky for that, even if he hadn't really wanted to leave earth the way he had.

"Then again, I guess I'm biased," he grinned as he batted his eyelashes innocently.

Maybe. But with his new role, who knew if he would have time?

"Pssh. Please. I'm only human." Which was true. And he was Kyle. Kyle? Not biased? Riiiight.

The question was whether he was willing to or not.

"It's not changing anytime soon." He had gave up Ion to recreate Oa and the corps, after all. Or tried to at the time, anyway.

"I mean, I think the fashion committee would come after me if I did that again. For actually having a costume that looks nice." Not to mention that it left nothing to the imagination.

"Oh? Care to enlighten me?" Kyle asked, waggling his eyebrows at Connor.

"Oh, but I don't know the ones you've heard," Kyle said innocently.
