It's a bird...

It's a plane...

Actually, it's an angry magician who's only slightly less angry than he might otherwise be, because he is still on his tour in the New World.

He is nothing if not a performer. However, for now, he is at the bar having a drink.

It is always interesting when one exits to the wings of the stage, only to find oneself, not amongst those hired to help during the performance, but suddenly in the wide expanse of a rather sizable drinking establishment.

Had he not been to this place before, he might be quite a bit more baffled by the experience, instead, he takes it in stride and makes his way to the bar for a drink.

[OOC: Angier's Journal]

Rupert disembarks the ship only to find he's returned to Milliways and is not currently setting foot in The New World. He's not terribly disappointed, but he had rather hoped to see a bit of the city.

The nicely dressed English gentleman straightens his jacket and heads toward the bar.

Night falls, and the air begins to hold a slight chill.

Winter is returning, slowly.

The bonfire tonight is bigger, and the bar serves hot tea, coffee, and chocolate as well as alcohol. S'mores fixings, as well as other sweet treats, are available.

Children light up the patchy woods with sparklers.

This is it.

Curl up with your friends, your lovers, your friends who are lovers, or your friends who may become lovers before the night is through.

The lake party is almost over.

Angier's Journal:

I am still at a loss to how Borden performs his newest illusion. I shall have to have Cutter along so he can determine its secret. Quite perplexing.

As is this establishment that I continue to find myself in at random intervals during the past few months. I have yet to figure how it is I come to be here - or why. There must be some purpose to this madness.

[OOM: Angier's Journal - he's seen Borden's new illusion.]

I can't believe he's done it. He's a dreadful showman, but he has an illusion that audiences love. And I can't figure out how he's done it. I'll have to ask Cutter to come along to a performance.

And I'm back in this - this - pub with the strange people and the window of falling stars.

I've just learned that I've been invited to take my show on tour in the new world - with a week's engagement in Chicago and a tour to the dozen or so largest American cities. This is excellent.

However, I have also had correspondence from one of my magic scouts regarding Borden's new illusion.

Julia has said I should forget Borden and conentrate on my tour of the U.S.A. I believe I shall take her advice and think on this...

...though I had expected to do my thinking in my own apartment, not here in this strange bar of the future.

Dammit.

Victorian era stage magician standing near the bar looking a little glum. He's missing his family and on his fourth cup of tea.

He's stirring his tea with one hand and fanning a deck of cards with the other.

19th century stage magician making himself at home in a corner booth with his journal and a cup of tea. He has tucked away all thoughts and memories of the night he spent skating around the bar in his socks and that odd man who kissed him. Mention of either will be met with blank stares of 'I have no idea about what you are speaking'.

Feel free to broach either subject anyway.

Some might also notice a pile of silk scarves next to him on the table in a variety of colors.

Perhaps he should not have partaken of the chocolate he had been given earlier. Perhaps he should have been more cautious. Perhaps he should have stayed in his room.

He did none of those things.

As he enters the bar, he takes a good look around, then takes several running steps and slides across the floor. He's wearing only socks on his feet, you see.

He whoops and hollers and seems to be genuinely enjoying himself...

what or who might he bump into along the way?

Giles came into the bar, still a bit troubled about recent events. He ordered some tea, and some dinner. He also received a dessert. Namely a brownie with shaved chocolate on top.

Strange, but it was quite good. Delicious finish. Something seemed vaguely familiar about the taste, but he didn't think anything of it. He was now relaxing casually at his seat, and watching the bar.

It has taken him several days, but he has managed to convince himself that it is okay to return to the main bar itself. He approaches the counter and, with mild trepidation, asks the following:

"Might I acquire a blank journal and a pen, please?"

He waits patiently and startles when the items appear on the counter.

"Thank you. And might I also have a cup of tea and a plate of chocolate wafers?"

He is cautious and specific about his requests, for fear he might be served the vile beverage he had the first night he entered the bar. He would rather not try that again.

The tea and cookies are next to the journal and pen and Robbie takes a moment to coordinate his items and locate an empty table at which he might sit and write.

Happy Hour

Bernard makes his way out to the main bar, whistling as he goes.

Been a pretty decent week, all told. He's in a good mood.

Let's see if he stays in a good mood!

"Welcome to Milliways Happy Hour. Specials tonight are Cosmopolitan, Dirty Girl Scout, and all beers and lagers on tap."

He rests his hands on Bar. She gives him a tequila. He's ready.

"What'll you have?"

[pre-Milliways]

...in a strange drinking establishment.

There are chairs and tables and a bar and patrons of all varieties.

Robbie, himself, is dressed in his typical clothing style - mostly very different from everyone he can see.

He recognizes that the place is a bar or tavern, but he doesn't think it's from 1892.
