[In Milliways: There was a sending.

Out of Milliways: And some went the short way, and some took the longer path.

Very Out of Milliways: Because sometimes you have to wrap up a loose thread or two. Stories aren't a straight line. Stories are a lifetime of going of the path and finding your way home again.

In Its Own Time, Place, And Name: And then, of course, you close the book when everyone does get to be, if not live, entirely happy.

Forever after.

Each in his or her own time.

And so it goes.]

"Aimee Lucille Evans, please come to Mummy," Susan Pevensie Evans sighs, as she enters her daughter's bedroom. This was Lucy's room, and her sister's favorite colors are still in place, brightened by fresh coats of paint.

Aimee's taken to hiding when called, something the two-year-old girl thinks is a terribly funny game. It's not funny to Susan, who is seven months gone with her second child and in a tearing rush to meet her sister-in-law for tea. She glances at the small bed Clive set up especially for their little girl and rolls her eyes in exasperation. Getting down on one's hands and knees is not easy for her these days. Getting up is even harder.

She heads for the closet instead, hoping for an easy game of hide and go seek today. Pulling the door open, she calls, "Aimee Lucille, are you-"

Then she freezes, eyes wide. Inside the closet is a place she's not seen in over three years.

It's funny how quickly time can go by, especially with marriage and children and life flowing past you. It seems like it was yesterday since she last stepped foot in Milliways; it seems like a lifetime ago.

"Mummy?" Aimee is standing behind her, arms stretched up. She is staring through the closet door, and Susan sees Lucy - brave, mischievous Lucy - in her daughter's eyes. She picks her up and faces the doorway again, hesitating a moment. But the memories of those dear to her - Lucy, her brothers, Amy, her kinsmen and women, her hosts in the House of Arch - compel her to step inside, for one last visit.

In her heart of hearts, she knows this is the last visit, just as she knew through the years, when she had time to think of it, that she'd come here again one day.

Blinking away the tears, she smiles at her daughter. "Mummy has a treat for you, Aimee. I'm so glad you came out to see."

ooc: This is Susan's last post, and it might not be the best of times for her to meet new people. However, if it's something you'd really like, ping me at vivien529 and we'll work something out. ;-)

OOM: Sometimes one can't find the door to Milliways.

And sometimes, one is too busy, and too happy, to mourn that fact.

OOM: Millitimed to... oh... a while ago. Maybe a month?

Anyway!

Susan takes Amy on a London adventure. There is much giggling, shopping, and sight-seeing.

And tea! Of course!

Letting someone with healer tendencies from 1949 into a hospital in 2007 is possibly foolish.

By which we mean, "Lucy maaay have been looking about with a bit more curiosity than was strictly warranted" but she did manage to (mostly) restrain herself from demanding answers to questions regarding Alanna's care. (Also, to show Raven, when no hospital staff members were around, she does remember the yarn trick for hair changing. Sunny will have to be shown, really. This she doesn't have to wash out.)

That aside, Alanna and Adam now have three children, no eyeballs were harmed in the birthing of said children, and Lucy has (more) tea.

A great deal of tea.

Possibly also two aspirin, after having written a note for Thom letting him know all the news there is to know.

One year.

He's been here a year, and always, no matter how much he's enjoyed it here at times, there's always been the constant lingering ache of not home, and the memory of the state Narnia was in when he left it.

So when he enters from the House of Arch and sees the front door for the first time in that year, it's little wonder that he goes pale, breath catching sharply, and then sinks abruptly in the nearest available seat.

He's still staring at the door. For the moment, he doesn't have eyes for anything else.

apple. appleappleapple. lady don't have no apples.

There's a light ripple in the water as a small creature crosses it, quickly and smoothly. There are no lights here, no trees in the water, no ... funny smells.

But maybe there are apples.

He crawls ashore and shakes his fur dry, mind set.

In keeping with the whole "not just skulking about the House of Arch" thing (which, really, there ought to be a twelve-step program for), Tirian is in the bar tonight, with (wait for it) tea.

He's also looking a bit thoughtful--it's drawing closer to Christmas, and there are presents to be thought of.

It wouldn't be accurate to say Peter Pevensie's been ususually absent from the bar--it's been a long time since he was around often. He's got better reasons these days, though.

He's here tonight because he... well, he felt as if he ought to be. Felt a little edgy--a little... thin.

He's still got a lot to do, though, and he's fairly absorbed in the books in the books and papers spread out his table. Right this very moment he's reworking his class schedules; he wants to work archery in here somewhere, but there's not entirely enough hours in the day.

If only people didn't have to sleep, things would be so much simpler.

Amy comes in this evening with her hands full of envelopes, sealed with gold wax and ribbons, carefully and formally addressed in the swirling script of a palace scribe to Queen Susan of Narnia, Miss Marguerite Giry and Mr. Andrew Wells, Miss Anne Shirley, Mr. Logan Echolls, King Caspian X and Queen Lucy of Narnia, King Mendanbar of the Enchanted Forest, Princess Cimorene of Linderwall, Lord Ostium and Lady Door of the House of Arch and Mr. Gavroche Thernardier and Lady Ingress, Professor Merriman Lyon, Captain and Mrs. Malcolm Reynolds, Miss Philippa Gordon, Midshipman Henry Wellard, Mr. Gilbert Blythe, Miss Lilly Kane, and Mr. Eustace C. Scrubb.

"Bar, dear, would you mind, terribly, seeing that these are delivered?"

That done, she vanishes back out through the door to Ambergeldar, only to return moments later with her daughter.

They're both settled in over by the fireplace, where Amy is singing a silly song about a knight and a dragon, much, it appears, to Susan's amusement.

One of the comfortable chairs by the fire is occupied by a Raven, who seems remarkably comfortable sprawled across both arms.

Possibly this position is good for his back?

Though it does make reaching for cookies just a little awkward--not to mention doing anything constructive with a very odd assemblage of items.

Most of them look like multicolored paperclips.

Ah, well.

Such are the hazards of life.

It's been some time since Susan stopped in the bar on the way to visit the House of Arch; for she only visits nowadays, what with her busy life in London.

But she is here now, drinking tea at a table. She's impeccably dressed and her cheeks are flushed. She's been out for dinner and dancing, and she's had a most lovely time with a most endearing fellow.

He doesn't know of the bar, or of her family's presence there, but Susan has the feeling that of all of her friends in London, he might be the one she ends up telling.

[OOMS DELUXE:

Friday night, Lilly Kane takes Narnians and others to Vegas for the bachelor and bachelorette parties.

The girls enjoy their time at the spa--and the strip club, though "enjoy" also means "are shocked by"--while the boys are...mostly just horrified.

Drinking occurs all around.

But it's not really enough for Lucy and Caspian to deal with being handcuffed and forced to deal with a sex shop by one Lilly Kane. (This thread rated R for Really They Did That In The Dressing Room?)

And in the end, they all meet up, for great flirting (between people you might not expect) and heading home.

Saturday, Caspian and Lucy get ready and are nervous. It's very cute, for both of them.

And then Saturday night...

Well.

God's in His Heaven and you're at my side, and now all is right with the world.

Many threads still ongoing.]

It was probably lovely, the ceremony.

Lucy, at least, hasn't a clue what happened during in it, but it was probably lovely, and as she and Caspian head to the reception, they're both smiling widely.

It must have been lovely, really, to make the smiles quite so large.
