A lot of people are leaving tonight.

Only, if you look at it another way, a lot of people will be arriving elsewhere tonight. And arrivals should be greeted.

Eustace has emptied out his room in the House of Arch -- not that he'd ever collected much in there -- walked through the stables, and finally arrived at the front door.

There's a smile on his face as he looks around the bar a last time; then, with no hesitation, he opens the door and steps through.

There'll be people to welcome in that green land, soon.

All that's left, when the door closes, is a scent of lilies, and an errant wisp of hay on the floor.

It's soon, is the thing.

That's agreed, and that's true, and that's just as it must be.

The worst part is that she's not sad about it.

Sad about the people she can't take with her, but not the leaving. Which, she supposes, is proof that it's time to truly go.

That doesn't make any of it easy, just right.

She hasn't told the dragons yet, of all things; she doesn't know how.

It's funny that some people are easier to deal with than twin purple menaces.

...But not most.

Edmund is in the bar, with tea. Because he is, in some ways, quite predictable.

He's facing the front door -- perhaps it's accident, perhaps not -- and sipping his tea slowly.

And trying not to think about... well, many things. Most of which he is, in fact, thinking about.

(Most of them have to do with Aslan's green country, and the peace on Tirian and Eustace's faces. It was never quite there in life.)

Look quickly, when the door opens, and you'll see low, rolling foothills covered in rich green grass under a clear blue sky--country that looks almost too perfect to be real.

And then the door closes, and there's nothing to see but Tirian of Narnia and Eustace Scrubb, both smiling, somehow unsurprised to find themselves back in Milliways.
[identity profile] last-king.livejournal.com
Tirian and Eustace stand in front of the door; both have found and re-donned the mail they were wearing when they arrived, and while both lost their swords in the battle, Tirian has the one made for him here by Gimli.

Tirian doesn't ask again if Eustace is sure about this, simply claps him on the shoulder once more.

"For Narnia?"

Eustace nods, a determined look on his face. "For Narnia."

Taking his hand from Eustace's shoulder to be able to keep hold of his sword hilt, Tirian reaches with his other hand to turn the doorknob and open it.

Through the door, little can be seen--a brief flicker of firelight, perhaps, but all else is darkness and silence. If this is Narnia, and the Calormenes are still out there, they're being very quiet.

They don't know just what they're going back to, but Aslan is always at work, said Edmund, and in his lowest moments, Tirian has never doubted the Lion.

One more brief nod to each other, and they step through the door, toward whatever awaits them.

Letting someone with healer tendencies from 1949 into a hospital in 2007 is possibly foolish.

By which we mean, "Lucy maaay have been looking about with a bit more curiosity than was strictly warranted" but she did manage to (mostly) restrain herself from demanding answers to questions regarding Alanna's care. (Also, to show Raven, when no hospital staff members were around, she does remember the yarn trick for hair changing. Sunny will have to be shown, really. This she doesn't have to wash out.)

That aside, Alanna and Adam now have three children, no eyeballs were harmed in the birthing of said children, and Lucy has (more) tea.

A great deal of tea.

Possibly also two aspirin, after having written a note for Thom letting him know all the news there is to know.

One year.

He's been here a year, and always, no matter how much he's enjoyed it here at times, there's always been the constant lingering ache of not home, and the memory of the state Narnia was in when he left it.

So when he enters from the House of Arch and sees the front door for the first time in that year, it's little wonder that he goes pale, breath catching sharply, and then sinks abruptly in the nearest available seat.

He's still staring at the door. For the moment, he doesn't have eyes for anything else.

Eustace, it has to be admitted, is a little tired of winter, for no reason he could put a name to. It has something to do with spending so much time inside, and something to do with the monochrome of outside.

Coming in from the stables, stamping snow off his shoes, he shoots a glance at the front door.

It's summer, through there.

After a moment, he shakes his head as if to clear it, and heads to the Bar. Soon he's settled at a table with a pot of tea, a chess set, and a book of chess problems to work on. They can't replace a real game, of course, but they're something to do.

It's really getting too cold for archery practice, and so, a couch and table by the fire have been claimed by Eustace, a chess set, and a book of chess problems.

Oh -- and tea. It wouldn't be an entrance post without tea.

Fancy a game?

Amy comes in this evening with her hands full of envelopes, sealed with gold wax and ribbons, carefully and formally addressed in the swirling script of a palace scribe to Queen Susan of Narnia, Miss Marguerite Giry and Mr. Andrew Wells, Miss Anne Shirley, Mr. Logan Echolls, King Caspian X and Queen Lucy of Narnia, King Mendanbar of the Enchanted Forest, Princess Cimorene of Linderwall, Lord Ostium and Lady Door of the House of Arch and Mr. Gavroche Thernardier and Lady Ingress, Professor Merriman Lyon, Captain and Mrs. Malcolm Reynolds, Miss Philippa Gordon, Midshipman Henry Wellard, Mr. Gilbert Blythe, Miss Lilly Kane, and Mr. Eustace C. Scrubb.

"Bar, dear, would you mind, terribly, seeing that these are delivered?"

That done, she vanishes back out through the door to Ambergeldar, only to return moments later with her daughter.

They're both settled in over by the fireplace, where Amy is singing a silly song about a knight and a dragon, much, it appears, to Susan's amusement.

Blowing on red fingers, Eustace enters from the lake, bow and quiver of arrows slung over his shoulder. It's getting darker outside, and colder, as it draws on towards winter. It hasn't stopped Eustace's archery practice yet, but it's getting there.

He orders tea from the Bar, claims a table, and sets about some maintenance for the bow and arrows

[OOMS DELUXE:

Friday night, Lilly Kane takes Narnians and others to Vegas for the bachelor and bachelorette parties.

The girls enjoy their time at the spa--and the strip club, though "enjoy" also means "are shocked by"--while the boys are...mostly just horrified.

Drinking occurs all around.

But it's not really enough for Lucy and Caspian to deal with being handcuffed and forced to deal with a sex shop by one Lilly Kane. (This thread rated R for Really They Did That In The Dressing Room?)

And in the end, they all meet up, for great flirting (between people you might not expect) and heading home.

Saturday, Caspian and Lucy get ready and are nervous. It's very cute, for both of them.

And then Saturday night...

Well.

God's in His Heaven and you're at my side, and now all is right with the world.

Many threads still ongoing.]

It's been almost four months, in Ambergeldar, since Amy came into the bar. Four rather tiring months, really, spent criss-crossing the country so she could be introduced to a populace. But that all ended last week, in early October, almost two months early, and she's back, looking about for her friends.

The slight curve to her stomach could be the result of the fashion of her dress, or even a trick of the light. But given the way she's smiling . . . it's probably not.

Amy is back. And she has News.

Enter Eustace, from the House of Arch, to an armchair by the fire. Props list: Tea (provided by a waitrat) and chessboard (abandoned by the fire).

He fidgets with the pieces, setting them up as if for a game, but eventually seems just as content to lean back in the armchair and gaze up into the rafters drowsily.

[OOM: Sometimes the best way to find something is to not look for it at all.]

The front door swings open abruptly, and a slight female figure passes through. Her attire is perhaps unusual to some, being a high-waisted formal gown detailed with elaborate embroidery, but Georgiana Darcy is certainly not the first to enter Milliways dressed in this way. Honey-blonde hair falls about her face in ringlets, and swings in unison with her bowed head. She is clearly lost in thought, her attention focused somewhere that is not her surroundings.

This is remedied, however, when the unusually high noise level of a popular bar finally gains her attention. Her head snaps upward as she looks about uncertainly, her pretty face wearing an expression of surprise.

"This... I do not understand..." She quickly turns on her heel and makes for the door once more, but it swings closed again with a decided click before she can reach it. Unusual, how that works in this place. But ever so convenient. ;D

[OOC: Background information on Georgiana's in-game history can be found here. She's been technically in play for a while, and the subject of plotting for even longer. This is, however, her first foray inna bar. It took THAT LONG to slowtime the background threads. So, if anyone was ever actually following along, you might want a refresher. That link can help you out.]

Merriman is in the bar, a chess board in front of him and a folded newspaper at his side. He's working out the day's chess problem in an old edition of the Times, a variation on an endgame once played between two Soviet grandmasters. Complicated, but rather elegant.

One hand hovers over a pawn, but then drifts over to pick up his cup of tea instead.

There's hay in Eustace's hair when he comes in from the stables. (It happens a lot. And no matter how he tries, he always seems to miss a piece or two.)

The hay is only being pointed out because it makes a somewhat incongruous accessory when he settles in at a table with a chessboard, sets up a problem (supplied by a book from Bar), and sets about solving it.

Problems are all well and good, but Eustace will rarely say no to an opponent.

You may or may not be aware that Puck
Has been in, well, hot water, as of late.
And-- call it stupid, call it rotten luck,
Or call it, if you're feeling kinder, fate--
But has, indeed, had congress with the beast
(As Wash would say); he's now in Satan's thrall--
But not lubricious! Yay for that, at least.
He's finding, though, he may not like at all
The plans the Devil has for him. For one,
He seems to have been more or less confined
To Milliways (which he finds less than fun)
To wait and see what Satan's got in mind.
Therefore: One fae, not!sulking by the lake,
And hoping that he shan't find Ed awake.

[Summary: The muse of tragedy stops by for a delightful chat; both parties are rather roundabout. Giles has stern words for Puck about Melkor, but ends up just sort of shaking his head at him. Shalla and Puck bond weirdly over enemies, scars, and trauma; laps and hair are abused. Gabriel, not yet over his Stockholm Syndrome, comes to chill with Puck-- followed by Elfmama Nerdanel, who finds Puck quite childish. Strahan and his menagerie speak with Puck in passing, learn his hooker name, and determine that he is not human. Jah-lila and Puck learn that they have more in common than one might suppose. Eustace and Puck have a disagreement about the fun quotient of stable work.

... And then Merc collapses in a heap.]
