Charlie is a little hungover, which should explain the pot of coffee, big glass of water and pancakes.

The secretive little smile can be explained by how he got the hangover.

Quicksilver flutters off of him as he walks over (http://community.livejournal.com/milliways_bar/10682442.html?thread=442223690#t442223690) to the booth. He sits opposite from Charlie for a moment, opens his mouth and looks like he's about to say something amusing before shaking his head, getting up, walking around, and sliding into the side Charlie's on and leaning against him without a word.

Charlie feeds him some of the pancakes.

He eats it, but mostly just lays his head on Charlie's shoulder and breathes for a few moments. After a while, he looks up at Charlie.

"Head doesn't hurt too much, does it?"

"Nothing I can't handle." He kisses the top of Darien's head. "Not the worst I've felt the morning after a night of indulgence."

He nods and tilts his head to kiss Charlie back before closing his eyes again.

"How's yours?" He starts rubbing his fingers against Darien's scalp.

Maybe he makes the brain-sucking ameoba sound for a moment.

He shakes his head lightly, the small beginnings of a smile starting to curl on his lips.

"I'm all right."

"You sure? 'Cause I worry you get all whispery."

He shakes his head again and leans on Charlie with his eyes closed.

"Sometimes I like the quiet."

Charlie smiles and wraps his arms around him. "I'll hush, then."

He does keep one hand free for pancakes, though.

And he curls up into a tight ball, long arms wrapped around long legs. He rests his head on Charlie's shoulder at first before burying his nose in the crook of Charlie's neck.

Silence is not something Charlie does well. After a moment he starts humming, his fingers still moving slowly over Darien's hair.

And Darien's breathing goes a little easier, not so tight, not so controlled. His muscles loosen, as they'd been tensed, and he flops a little.

Richard plops down next to him and tucks into a bacon sandwich and a pot of tea. There's also a sleeping bebe on his back.

"'lo," Charlie says and tries not to show how much he'd also like a baby sleeping on his back right now.

"G'morning, Charlie. How've you been?"

Charlie could always take Joshua for a bit.

"Not bad, really. Not bad. Pretty good, on the whole. You?"

"Doing well, been talking to Gary about job options and such-like. How's Darien?"

Charlie smiles for real. "Excellent. Perfect. Wonderful."

He grins.

"As it should be, then. I'm glad to see you happy, Charlie."

"Thanks." He nods his chin at Joshua. "He's getting so big."

"Aye, he's more than double his birth-weight now."

He reaches back to pet baby-fine hair.

"How's our Seth?"

Well, so much for smiling.

"I haven't seen him since before my birthday."

Richard winces.

"Oh. Sorry."

And he doesn't pry further because he understands that there are some things we Just Don't Talk About.

"Yeah."

Just Not Talking About it doesn't help much. But talking doesn't much, either.
