Belar got some news from the security office yesterday, and hoo nelly is he not pleased. His Mongols were told very firmly that he was going to be away for a little while, because he didn't want to cause any issues in their immediate vicinity; he's in the Bar now with his sign up.

"Trouble?" Knox notices such things with utter ease.

"This is not Gar og Nadrak. There are better ways of dealing with someone cheating at cards," Belar grumps.

"It's a bar, though. I think that pulling a knife on someone who cheats at cards is an old tradition.

"Not," he adds fast, "that I condone it. I'm just surprised I never hear about it more."

"Pulling a knife's fine, threatening people's all part of the psychological game, but these two stabbed a guy through the hand," says Belar sourly. "One tall, one short, 'completely nuts'- that's the description we got from the victim. Sound like anybody we know?"

Charlie is amused by that sign. Very. Even aside from the mild hilarity of actually having to put on a sign that stabbing equals violence.

Every few minutes he's looking over and trying not to laugh, with partial success.

"We seem to have a couple of extreme morons among the patrons," Belar says dryly. "I thought I might try to reach out to the thicker-than-Thulls community."

Well he knows that. Knows them, too.

"Misters Croup and Vandemar, right?" It is kind of their thing, though he has to admit he's never actually seen them stab anything. Chew on it, yes. But never actually injure something living.

"Well, if that doesn't convince them I don't know what will."

Ben eyes the sign with a certain sense of wonder. The villains on his world can be dim but not that dim.

"Do I wanna know?" he can't help asking.

"A guy got stabbed in the hand," Belar says. "By two guys he didn't have names for, but who match the description of a pair of dickweeds who once tore a guy's arm off and said it wasn't really that bad just because it wound up growing back."

"That's...that's...I got nothin'" Ben says not meaning to make light of the situation. "Is the victim okay? Both victims I should say?"

Gus notices the sign and pauses lightly. He knows exactly what this is about, and this is what he didn't want to happen.

"Listen, man," he says nervously. "It was just a misunderstanding. Everything's fine."

"No it's not," says Belar. "Not if I've got Bar patrons running around who can't keep it in their sheath."

Belar is generally a very pleasant and laid-back kind of god, but it is generally best to remember that he is the Bear God on his world, and bears don't let things go easily.

"I'd rather not cause any trouble," Gus tries.

He realises the situation looks not-so-great. "These things happen, right?"

And here's a new face for Belar, one which is currently staring at the sign. There is, for once, visible emotion on his face, and it is a mix confusion and interest, tinged with more than a little sympathy for whoever is this "head of security," with just a dash of...

Well, it's almost sadistic amusement. Almost.

Belar glances up at the newcomer, counts internally to five, and says in the politest and calmest tone possible, "Hi there! Can I help you?"

Kratos turns his attention to the apparently young man, and his eyes widen almost imperceptibly. This person is not human, and for the first time in a long time, Kratos is actually a little intimidated. There was only one Kratos knows of who could match this person--and maybe not even him.

"...Not as such." Time to mind his manners, then. "I've... served as law enforcement in my time. You have my sympathies." After a pause, he adds, "I'm merely intrigued as to where the subtlety lies that could confuse someone about whether or not stabbing is violent." The sarcasm in his tone is almost palpable.

The sign makes her stop, look, raise an eyebrow and half smirk.

"Someone forget the rules?" She asks Belar, dryly.

"Little bit," says Belar. "It's like a dog that hasn't figured out not to piss on the carpet."

That makes her eyes narrow a little.

"Should I be concerned, then?"

Scaramouche, happily noshing on an apple, wanders by.

And then, not quite believing she'd really read what was on that sign backs up and tries again.

"... Well, duh."

"You'd be amazed what some people try to claim they can get away with," Belar says serenely.

"... But that one should be fairly self-explanatory, yeah? Knives, not just for your overcooked roast?" Good grief, it only took her five minutes around Fury to realize knives and the use thereof could be easily classified as 'violence'.

Vext sees the sign right away. Which is why he didn't see the patron's foot he trips over.

The resulting fall is one of those things that get shown on America's Funniest Home Videos.

"Whoa!" Belar flinches backwards reflexively, at the same time flinging out an invisible 'hand' of pure force to catch the falling person. "Watch yourself there, buddy."

He hits the hand of force and slides off of it, coming to a halt on the floor with a bemused and bewildered expression.
