[OOM: Enzo's first Game as a Guardian is more than meets the eye. Rated N for Non-explicit Naughtiness in the prologue and R for ROBOTS!]

One thing no one likes about Games - even those who generally enjoy them, like Enzo - is when they come down in the middle of the night. It may not be bad at the time, but you always pay for it later. On the other hand, no one expects you to be fully functional the day after.

Enzo wants to be, though. He's his system's newest Guardian, for as long as he's still at home, and he owes it to the system to be fully alert and on the ball when he's on duty. And a Guardian is always on duty.

So he's cheating. Hooray for Milliways time-freeze!

In other words: green boy napping onna couch. With a teddy bear. Frisket's curled up on the couch, too, and kind of crowding Enzo's feet.

"Your megaphone?"

"Yeah. How else are the knights s'posed to hear a damsel calling for help all the way at the top of a tower?"

Dani pauses to think about this.

"...good point."

"Plus it made me sound more like a damsel." He smirks. "Actually, it made me sound like Dot."

"Now that's weird."

His smirk increases. "Yeah, and Bob showed up thinking he had to rescue Dot, but she'd rebooted as a knight too!"

"I'll bet that was really confusing," she grins.

He grins back. "It was almost worth it just to see his face." A pause. "But it was still megaembarrassing."

"I'll bet."

"Usually they're fun, though." He pauses, thinking. "I can show you one when you come to Mainframe, if you want. If one comes down while you're there, I mean. I won't let anything in it hurt you," he promises.

"Cool!"

She smiles. "I know you wouldn't, Enzo."

"It's too bad you won't be able to use your powers in it, they'd be totally... hey. Hey!" He stares at her, delighted. "I got an idea!"

Dani looks at him, curious. "What?"

"You're kind of like Bob was, right? With the instability? 'Cept yours is in genes instead of code."

"Yeah, that's right." She nods, still not quite sure what he's getting at.

"So when we digitize you for your visit, you'll be just like Bob. I think."

And the lightbulb goes on.

"You mean...fix me like Bob got fixed?" Dani asks. "Would it work, do you think?" Would they still need Danny's DNA?

Enzo nods, beaming. "I don't see why not! They might need a scan of the good code from Danny, though." In other words, probably, except for the DNA part.

"I know he'd be willing to give you one," said Dani.

She can't help but feel the teensiest bit excited about this.

"They'd have to put you into sleep mode when they debug you," he warns her. Even the most minor alteration to one's code, like a tattoo, hurts like the dickens, and that's just cosmetic. This is surgery.

She nods. "I know."

Enzo smiles encouragingly. "I'll send you balloons and flowers. And a Guardian bear," he adds with a smirk.

Dani giggles. "What's the difference between a teddy bear and a Guardian bear?"

"'Cause they're in little Guardian uniforms." Makes sense, don't it? "They're s'posed to make kids feel safe. Why 'teddy' bears?"

"I read somewhere it was because a famous president decided not to kill a bear cub in real life," she says. "The president's first name was 'Teddy', so they started calling toy bears 'teddy bears.'"
