There are quite a number of brightly colored plastic things all over the floor in Milliways. We're talking, easily thirty of each four types of manipulatives.
All
Over
The
Floor
You have not even SEEN a mess before you have seen the way a toddler can mess up a room with a bunch of tiny plastic toys. As for the toddler in question, she is planted somewhere in the middle of the mess, playing with the toys. She is still wearing the shirt with names all over it (BOO! being the prominent one) and the house shoes that jingle and sing. Every once in awhile she'll wiggle her feet and either jinglejingle or "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands" can be heard. And next to her is a pink adult sized throw made out of what is possibly the softest material ever.
Oh the fun she's having.

Bad Bill still broke her toy. (nevermind that she has a dozen just like it scattered all over the floor)
no subject
"What'd you do?" she asks Bill in a tone that isn't accusatory, just curious.
no subject
"I'm sorry, Squirt." He says to the little girl in Kate's arms. "I wasn't lookin, I was..."
OH CRAP WHERE'S THE ENVELOPE?!
Bill's head starts to dart around quickly.
no subject
She sniffles, the crying mostly over, and puts her face back in Kate's shoulder.
no subject
"At least she has more — "
She glances down at the top of Boo's head.
"Right, half-pint? You have lots of them. And Bill didn't mean to break one, he's just ... "
A little accident-prone.
Her eyes move to Bill again, and then she spots the manila envelope just visible behind his hip.
"Looking for that?" she asks, inclining her head toward it.
no subject
When Kate points it out Bill turns quickly and snatches it, quickly pushing what ever fell out back in.
"I'll buy you another, girl. Promise." He says distractedly as he puts things back.
no subject
She might look a little green.
Looks like she worked herself up more than we thought.
no subject
The sheaf of papers rustling in his grip grabs her attention, but then Boo coughs; Kate looks at her closely.
"Grace?"
She looks a little ... green. That can't be good.
no subject
His eyes widen and he stands quickly, forgetting the envelope in favor of moving swiftly.
"I'll be right back! Hold on!" He hurries off towards Bar, carefully stepping over and around the scattered toys.
When he comes back it's with a small trash can and towel that Bar provided him without asking.
no subject
Then Boo starts to cry again - more of a whine really. Because throwing up feels terrible and there's icky stuff everywhere and her nose and throat feels like it's burning and..
She does not approve. No approval at all.
no subject
Because it's not important — Boo's upset and Kate knows how awful it feels to throw up.
"Oh, Boo — I'm sorry ... "
That's a hundred percent sincere sympathy in Kate's voice.
She looks over at Bill, thankful he had the foresight to bring a towel with the trash can.
no subject
He got the trashcan down infront of her, for all the good it did.
Looking at the mess on his shirt front and arms he starts to wipe it off then notices Kate and Boo and offers the towel to Kate instead.
"She gonna be okay?"
no subject
Now there's icky EVERYWHERE, even on Kate and Bill. Boo feels bad. She doesn't like the icky!
But, on the plus side, she doesn't look green anymore!
no subject
"I know, sweetheart, I see ... "
She begins to wipe the icky from Boo's nose and mouth.
"She looks better."
I think.
no subject
"Yeah, she don't look green anymore. There anything I can do?" Kate seems to have the cleanup part handled.
no subject
She perks up a bit and presents her shiny Hello Kitty bracelet for Bill's inspection. She points to the Hello Kitty charm.
"B'll!"
no subject
'Change of clothes for Boo' is the rest of that request, but it gets lost in a laugh when Boo displays her bracelet.
no subject
"Bad influence." He accuses.
no subject
She points to Bill.
"Shit!"
She looks expectantly at both of them for a reaction.
no subject
She stops short and looks from Bill to Boo, then back to Bill.
"Bill."
no subject
"I'm gonna go get more towels." He says as he turns and heads back towards Bar.
no subject
"Ewww."
no subject
She turns back to Boo and gives her a (somewhat) reproachful grin.
"That's a word you shouldn't use, half-pint. Not till you're older. Much older."
She looks down when Boo touches her shirt.
"Eww," she agrees, toweling Boo's hand, then wiping the vomit from her forearm. She'll have to tackle the stains on her tank when Bill gets back with fresh towels.
no subject
"Here ya go." He keeps a towel for himself and works on getting himself cleaned up, frowning as he decides this is the last time he's going to wear this shirt.
