(no subject)

Life, it seems, had taken on some sort of routine, whether or not that routine was actually preferable. Stay at the... place they were staying at (certainly not home), go out for a few things but mostly patrol, go back. The bar had stopped inserting itself, and while he was grateful to not have to discuss things, he wasn't grateful for the absence.

But his routine had changed in the last few days, mostly because his father had decided he deserved some sort of break. He'd protested, and tried his best not to, but in the end got ushured off because his father was even more stubborn than he was. So it's been a lot less stressful, and now it seems that the bar is inserting itself once more.

Because instead of ending up where he wants to go, he ends up there instead.

He really has no idea if he's grateful or reluctant about it. He supposes he'll just have to decide after sitting here for awhile in a booth, and seeing who comes around.

"Much better. The Guardians are recruiting, and I'm supposed to teach some of the rookies," Kyle said with a grin. He was never the teacher type, but hey, being able to contribute like this felt good. Not to mention that he felt like he had a purpose.

"And does decidedly better mean not really that great?" Kyle may be dense at times, but not when it came to things like this.

"Guy's not liking it too much, but I think it's great. We were stretched pretty thin before. Hopefully, we'll get a good bunch of Green Lanterns from this," Kyle said cheerfully. Some of them didn't seem too eager, but that wasn't surprising. Everyone was different.

"How's life treating you?" Kyle could tell something was wrong. And was he going to let that go? Of course not.

"We haven't really gotten to specifics yet. More of an...introduction? And I'm not the main instructor, anyway," Kyle said with a shrug. Not that he minded. Not at all. He knew that Kilowog was much better in that position.

"Really? Did your dad let you?"

"On Oa." Of course. It was all shiny and rebuilt and new.

"Ah. Well, if he even makes you take a vacation, I'd say you were pretty stressed." That much was evident. Oliver could be quite dense at times.

"It's been rebuilt." And Kyle had a hand in that, of course, but he didn't mention it.

"Right. Because that's why you're avoiding the topic," Kyle said, cocking a brow.

"It's beautiful. Large. I've never seen the Oa from before, but I'm sure it matches it," Kyle said with a genuine smile. Not that he was bragging. He just really thought it looked great.

"Uh huh. I know that tone. There's no putting me off, Mr. Hawke!" Kyle tsked as he waved a finger. Sure, he was easy to distract, but that wasn't the point!

"Maybe I can take you there sometime," Kyle said with a smile. Hey, he didn't want to go back to earth, but he was fine with taking Connor places.

"Uh huh. This isn't Egypt, Connor." This was...well, the end of the universe. So there.

[identity profile] collar-fetish.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Right." Like he was going to let that fly. After all, Connor was the one that always pursued him when he had a problem. Kyle could only hope he could helo by doing the same.

"What's the matter, Connor?" Well, besides the streak of bad luck they were having lately.

[identity profile] collar-fetish.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"You're on vacation. Somehow, I don't think that's it," Kyle said, cocking one brow. Because, really. It didn't sound convinving at all.

"You know you can talk to me, man." Because really, he wanted Connor to be able to talk to him about his problems. That's what friends were for, right?

[identity profile] collar-fetish.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"At the beginning?" As cliche as it sounded, hey, it usually was a good starting place. There didn't seem to be anything bad about the beginning.

"We could get a room and talk there, if you want. Or we could go outside." Surely, there were less people outside. Maybe they could find a place out there.

[identity profile] collar-fetish.livejournal.com 2005-09-25 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Let's go outside, then." Maybe some air would help? So he got up, waiting for Connor to do the same. If you thought he'd go without Connor, you were mistaken.

Of course. Kyle followed Connor, keeping an eye on him. He really was worried that the other man was so reluctant to talk. Not that it was surprising -- after all, Connor was more the listener than the speaker.

Still, Kyle was determined to make him talk.

He let Connor pick where outside they would settle down, since Connor was the one that needed to feel comfortable, after all.
