Life, it seems, had taken on some sort of routine, whether or not that routine was actually preferable. Stay at the... place they were staying at (certainly not home), go out for a few things but mostly patrol, go back. The bar had stopped inserting itself, and while he was grateful to not have to discuss things, he wasn't grateful for the absence.
But his routine had changed in the last few days, mostly because his father had decided he deserved some sort of break. He'd protested, and tried his best not to, but in the end got ushured off because his father was even more stubborn than he was. So it's been a lot less stressful, and now it seems that the bar is inserting itself once more.
Because instead of ending up where he wants to go, he ends up there instead.
He really has no idea if he's grateful or reluctant about it. He supposes he'll just have to decide after sitting here for awhile in a booth, and seeing who comes around.

"And does decidedly better mean not really that great?" Kyle may be dense at times, but not when it came to things like this.

"I haven't seen the bar in awhile," Connor says, only giving a vague sort of answer to the latter statement. "So it's nice to see it again."
no subject
"How's life treating you?" Kyle could tell something was wrong. And was he going to let that go? Of course not.
no subject
Life was... well. "I've been on vacation."
no subject
"Really? Did your dad let you?"
no subject
"He didn't let me -not-," Connor says, with a bit of a humourless smile.
no subject
"Ah. Well, if he even makes you take a vacation, I'd say you were pretty stressed." That much was evident. Oliver could be quite dense at times.
no subject
"Well," Connor says, finding there's a difference between outright lying and avoidance. "It's not that important."
no subject
"Right. Because that's why you're avoiding the topic," Kyle said, cocking a brow.
no subject
"Am I?" Maybe a dismissive tone would work.
no subject
"Uh huh. I know that tone. There's no putting me off, Mr. Hawke!" Kyle tsked as he waved a finger. Sure, he was easy to distract, but that wasn't the point!
no subject
"I'm not putting off anything," Connor says, apparently deciding that Egypt is a nice place to live. "Really."
no subject
"Uh huh. This isn't Egypt, Connor." This was...well, the end of the universe. So there.

But it fades at the latter statement. "Yes, well," Connor says, slumping a little, "I'd like to pretend it is for awhile." Even if that probably wasn't good for him.
no subject
"What's the matter, Connor?" Well, besides the streak of bad luck they were having lately.
no subject
He sighs. "I just feel cooped up, that's all." Right.
no subject
"You know you can talk to me, man." Because really, he wanted Connor to be able to talk to him about his problems. That's what friends were for, right?
no subject
"I wouldn't even know where to start."
no subject
no subject
"No way to avoid this, huh?" He shakes his head. "Do we have to do it in here, at least?" With all these people around.

Still, Kyle was determined to make him talk.
He let Connor pick where outside they would settle down, since Connor was the one that needed to feel comfortable, after all.
